This is what I use to slap the "iron maidens" (steel targets or pepper poppers) with at 1000 yards 😉

Built on an old Win model 70 action in 300 winmag.

1000 yard shooting is about 1/3 in your equipment, 1/3 in how precise you build your ammo and the other 1/3 is knowing your load data, come-ups, reading conditions, ect.

1000 yard is a real challenge (but fun)

I have something similar built for the 600 yd range in 6BR. My poppers are praire dogs though.

Nice stuff. Marine Snipers used to use the Win Model 70 and Remington 700 as the basis for their sniper rifles.

Up until the last decade or so, everybody used the 70 and 700 as their platform, but there have been some giant leaps in technology lately that have really pushed the edge of long range shooting.

But this is something that I'm very comfortable with.

In the end all that matters is that I can put lead on steel @ that range.

had the pleasure to be at a range here in VA, to see marines targeting this far (bud o' mine is a comp. shooter - we were picking up a re-worked 45 for him). now my eyes are bad, but i couldn't even see what the warriors were shooting at. the range "boss" even handed me a pair of field glasses, and had to talk me to the targets. amazing that anyone can do it.. nice weapon you have there..
