the top picture with the blue spots the one on the left was where we lived... the one on the right was where you do your needed things.. ****, shower,shave and peepee dance.. now imagine waking up in the AM, sun comes up at 5am.. and your slipping on your boots (so you don't get bit by any snakes or scorpions) and you got a 100 yrds to go from point A to point B with your back teeth floating.. you open the door on your hut and you go from 65 degree weather to 110 and smacked in the face with sunlight so bright your eye's are blinded for 60% of your trip to the ****ter...

The second pic is me taking my first bath the night we arrived at our new home... rumor before we left the USA was they were in short water supply.. Two 5 gal. buckets fit nicely inside a duffle bag ;0)~~~ other guy's used their helmets and water bottles LOL

HOG duing the war from the time we crossed the LOD until the shooting stopped we wore the same MOPP suit and took no showers....some guys went longer than I did....I went 52 days.........

We never stayed in the same location for more than a day. and thus shaving every other day or so was about all the water we could spare. . .For the first month we couldn't waste any water...now there is so much bottled water in that country it's incredible...

The Army troops living in Kuwait now are spoiled rotten to the point of being pathetic. They have Pizza Huts, Burger Kings, Duncan Dognuts, Olympic Size Pools....When my Marines rotated to Kuwait after 7 months in Fallujah, the young doggies there tried to tell them how rough life in Kuwait was...........

Bull.. thats the same thing my Nephew said when they were on the march to bagdad.. no showers and the water shortages... this pic was in 96 when there were maybe 400 total Americans on the base.. went back in 2002 and it had built up and grown to 5000-6000 with allot of Marines,Navy,Army and Air Force personnel...

and yep we had all the luxuries in 2002 LOL.. Air Force with Hotels and Hot Meals remember?? LMAO!!!!!

That's funny - that place looks almost identical to where I stayed in Bahrain. The description is a lot different, though. Bullwyf - we had plenty of water, oreos, beer and pizza where I was hanging out. Not to mention some fine cigars and an MWR tent. I feel guilty just thinking about it... 😉

Yessir... ya gotta love the Desert Dome. All kinds of food, beer and most importantly - air conditioning!

Not talking about the dome. Talking about where I got to hang out during combat ops. Don't need tents at the base anymore - it's very nice and quite built up. I got to live in a tent city, which was actually very nice. Great AC (better than on base!), good food (free!), and excellent facilities, even though most were temporary. I thought it would be relatively miserable conditions, but it really wasn't. Just kept thinking that it would be nice to be able to send some of my water, some of my food, some of my AC, and some of my sleep up to the front. I had more of each than I knew what to do with.

In 1991, I would have been right in the middle of Desert Storm, except they found out I had a kidney disease when I went for my physical. It still upsets me to think about it, I should have been there helping out.

i stayed on an op/lp for seven days once......we had food for 3 days.......water for 4 days......could not move other than to **** occasionally.......we could not leave our position to do that either!!!!

the longest w/o a shower was 41 days........

I love the stories and the pics. Many of my friends went into the military. That was my intention as well after college. But alas.....4F...as they say or used to say. One kidney didn't leave enough redundant parts for the military to let me in.

I appreciate the job u guys have done and continue to do.
