I just got this done and had to share a picture of it. I put some cigar boxes in it just to see how many it could hold and it looks like 150-200 a shelf and there are 4 shelves so boxed it would be close to 600-800 and loose probably 1000 or more!! I can’t believe that I just started this thing on Tuesday! Don't ask for a plan because I don't have plans I just thought it up and went out to the shop and built it.2675950.jpg

Kind of a crappy pic, but you get the point. The bottom two drawers are a little hard to see, but since this is in our foyer I added them for gloves and crap.

The unit is made in three pieces.

Top Unit (Clock Face) - Clear Pine

Middle Unit (Humidor) - All Spanish Cedar

Bottom Unit (Drawers) - Clear Pine

If I was going to stain the piece I would have used Walnut, but since I painted it there is no point on covering up such nice wood.

I can't believe you have a house small enough to have two windows that close to one another. This must be the servant's quarters, right? I mean, I figured your home had to be at least 20,000 sq ft.

Pac beat me to it.

My first thought was: What kind of room is 4' wide and has 2 windows?

LadyHay - Thanks - I'm making a sign to hang next to it that will be vertical and say "Cigar Smoke Shop" and have an old fashioned hand pointing towards the clock.

Oh I see it's not a room that is the front foyer when you walk in the house. What you see is the open staircase on the left and a window on the right.

No grand entrance hall? I envisioned something big enough for a game of 3 on 3, with maybe an enormous Dale Chihuly chandelier hanging over it.

That looks absolutely fantastic. Nice work. Good call going with the straight shelves.

Thanks! I'm glad I did the straight I had them in there at an angle to start with and it just didn't feel right to me. I was also able to add a third shelf by putting straight so that was nice. Once my wife gets done decorating that little nook it will look cool as hell.

CE--that will be cool.

We hung our sign up in the new house a few weeks ago. We have a large opening into the kitchen from the foyer and it fit perfectly above the opening. I always liked it above the humidor but that wouldn't work in the new house. But we still found a great spot for it.
