I had a chance to buy Winston Curchill's desk. It had a leather top covered with cigar burns. I went on a fishing trip and when I got back the antique dealer had refinished the desk and thrown out the leather, replacing it with new leather. He thought he was doing me a favor. I still can hardly believe it. This is a true story.

I had to change my alternator in my 66 Galaxy. When I returned from the parts store, they had given me the wrong one. I could not believe it. True story!!! 😉

Lit up a PAM, got in the car for a 10 minute drive to my destination. Arrived and knew I couldn't conduct my business with the stogie so I put it down, ran in for about 5 minutes, came out, ran to the car, got in, started the car and realized I'd forgotten to pick up my precious stick. Got out of the car and thought "Where did I put it down?" - It was under my foot.

It was a few years back. I was still young and naive regarding smokes. I went to my favorite shop just over the line in New Hampshire (I love not paying taxes to Kennedy). I had recently read some reviews of a cigar I hadn't tried and purchased a handfull of robustos and torps. Returned to my home, gathered with friends and proudly lit one of my precious gems. That was the last Tamboril to touch these lips. Sometimes, late at night, when I'm feeling ill, I can still taste the acrid flavors. My sizable nostrils still burn from the memory. I occassionally wake up in a cold sweat, and need to run to my coolerdor to make sure there isn't one amongst my 'mates. To this day, I can't so much as speak to a girl named Tammy without a body shaking gag reflex. I almost quit altogether, afraid that someone might maliciously switch bands on me. But I feel safer now. My cigar cutter is that nifty swiss army model. So if I unknowingly light another one up, I am prepared to perform a 3 inch stainless steel blade harri carri on my tastebuds. Oh, almost forgot: "True story"...

In the last week, my family, friends and I smoked a cigar after the funeral of the Mother of one of those friends. We were smoking to honor and celebrate her life but it was indeed a depressing moment! John

"died after a boxing match while smoking a cigar"....WARNING: The surgeon general had determined that smoking cigars while boxing causes caronary infarctions.

A friend of mine brought back some ISOM RyJs for another friend. So the friend that got the cigars felt guilty because I didn't get any and they are some of my favorites. So she decided to share one with me. Rather then cut the end she bit it off. Not just a nibble she actually used her back teeth. Then she lights it up and starts smoking it. When she hands it to me the end is soaking wet and all flaky and uneven from the rending off of the end. So I got a super wet smoke with lots of tobacco flakes in my mouth. What a waste of a great cigar.

My most depressing cigar moment happened on September 11, 2001 when I was watching the horror unfold at the World Trade Center from the Riverfront Hilton in Jacksonville, Fla......I smoked 20 plus cigars during an extended stay in Jacksonville due to airline problems, etc associated with 9/11! God, what a day that was! I was right near ground zero in D.C. I was smoking something, but don't remember what it was.
