These were taken from a "pheasant farm" in Altoona PA where they release birds into the fields the day before. We paid for 14 birds, and the proprietor turned us out into a 8 acre field and said "hunt"; them he drove off.

I don't know if it was a scam or not, but I didn't think that 8 acres would hold 14 birds, so we "ranged out" a bit and covered about 200 acres. We DID stop shooting after the 14th bird.

Well done. There's a place back here in Nebraska where last March me and a buddy got 27 one day and 28 the next. We're headed back up there in a couple weeks so I'll try to get you some pics to compare.

I was just reviewing the pic post and felt a little ignorant for posting pictures of dead animals when everyone else is posting their pets.

I would never shoot a parrot though; too scrawny.

We also got some quail and chukar on top of those. My buddy from Texas has a great Pheasant Fajita recipe if you're interested.

Just to clarify: this place is what is called a controlled shooting area which allows them to offer hunts from Sept 1 thru March 31. It's all legal hunting.

My sister and bro in-law belong to a bird club and they put them in the alfalfa fields. Good practice for them and there dogs. I ate so much pheasant and grouse one season I was sick of it. Good, but nothing beats the taste of chicken.

Fix them right and they will taste like chicken. :o)

Man, I'd love to get ahold of the feathers. Lot a nice flies in them feathers!!! Nothing like tasty birds one day and fish the next!!!

Wild pheasants were plentiful in southern Michigan
years ago (1980's).. not so now do to habitat and
DNR mismanagement IMO..

I mean't where are you located in Nebraska, I have plenty of hunting spaces with native birds. Just curious if your'e close enough to get together and herf sometime.
