This is the cabinet I'm using. It was pretty cluttered when I took this picture. I finally moved it upstairs to my smoking room.

Great, what is the American Flag from if you don't mind my asking? Charlie

I was presented that flag in 1998 upon my retirement from the USAF. 20 years 11 months and 15 days on active duty. It was flown over the US Capital and aboard one of the F-15s in the 1st Fighter Wing at Langley AFB. I took it out of the case shortly after Sep 11 and had it displayed on my front porch. After awhile I put it back in the case and put a smaller flag out on my porch. It's a keepsake that I don't want lose or have ruined by too much exposure to the elements.

Hi Penzt8, what type of wood is it? Is it active or passive humidifier? It looks like an excellent piece of work! Most importantly, what does your wife think of it? Due to size issues, (and wife issues) I keep the large humidor in the den and the medium size in the living room. I will see about posting a picture here soon.

One other thing, I have a nephew going into the Air Force, any thoughts?

Just got back from a trip to Hawaii. I spent a week at an Air Force conference. Something about smoking a Hemingway Signature at the poolside bar that makes them taste so much better! I took along a mixed box of cigars (mostly hemingways and V centennial 500's with a few puros indios and CAOs). I spread a few around to my friends. The cabinet is made out of oak with a slighltly pickled finished (not too much white in it) the humidifier is a standard room humidifier. It's electronic and comes on when the humidity falls to about 68%. I also keep a humidifier with PG on an upper shelf to absorb excess humidity. Seems to work well, it stays around 70-71% most of the time. I too, have a room to call my own. I converted the bonus room over the garage into my cigar room. As far as the Air Force goes, I'd recommend it to anyone. It's an opportunity to serve your country and it's just a great experience for young people. The pay's not great but there are great opportunities for training and education, not to mention the travel. I still work for the Air Force as a contractor and periodically travel.

I'll post a better picture one of these days. I bought this cabinet from a Pennsylvania House furniture outlet. Add some weather stripping to the doors and a strip of duct tape to cover a vent in the back and you have an instant humidor. I was using a wick type room humidifier but I changed to a passive system using blocks of oasis foam.

Haven't I seen that before?
