Greenwolf, as usual, you have your head up your ass (which makes me think that if you really ARE "ROFLMAO", you have probably ground what little brain stem you operate with and should probably seek medical attention).
The Spokesman-Review is NOT a "Seattle area newspaper". It is located in Spokan, in the Eastern part of Washington, and it is about 280 miles from Seattle. To put that into a little perspective, Vancouver, Canada, is about 140 miles away, or roughly half the distance from Seattle to Spokane.
Furthermore, your claim that Washington is a "liberal state" shows both your prejudices and your lack of willingness to rise above your own ignorance.
Washington is, by area, largely a conservative state. It end up on the Democrat and some times liberal end of things largely as a result of the 800 lb. gorilla, that being Seattle. Seattle is an extremely liberal area. In fact, it is the county seat of King County, which also tends to be quite liberal. That area of the state hold a high concentration of the population of the entire state, and that is why Seattle and King County carry so much power on state-wide votes.
There are some very small pockets of liberals elsewhere. San Juan County, for example, tends to be quite liberal but has a population of around 17,000 for the entire county. And when the Democrats swept into office in their biggest push in years, some traditionally conservative counties voted Democrat along the way. That election, BTW, was quite anomylous. Counties, such as the one where I live, who generally tend to vote mostly or all Republican voted largely Democrat in surprising numbers.
However, most of the counties outside of the large population core around the greater Tacoma-Seattle-Everett area tend to be quite conservative. That is espeically true of Eastern Washington, where Spokane is the largest city (and somewhere around the 4th or 5th largest city in the state, IIRC). Eastern Washington is so different from the Western side that there have been pushes over the years by folks in Eastern Washington to divide the state into 2 separate states (I doubt that will happen any time soon).
Eastern Washington, which is generally divided from the West side by the Cascade Mountains, tends to be older, more conservative, largely agricultural, etc.
So, as you pick yourself up off the floor and try to stem the bleeding, you might want to think about something REALLY crazy next time...you know, like actually getting your facts straight before you post another pile of **** like this type of crap.
