Yep. I did that in the military. Works pretty good. Get drained then go buy beer with the money they give you. It's a Win, Win situation!

There's a donation center not far from where I live. You can donate up to 2 times a week at 40 bucks a pop.

2/week...$40 a pop...$320 a month...that's HUGE!!!
Of course I'm the idiot with a degree back in school...but I'm not working for other reasons...so that could be a definite oppurtunity.

As a recipient of MANY blood transfusions, I can say you will be doing a great service as well as making a little extra money. I've been given well over 2 dozens units of blood in the last ten years. Giving plasma will help others, as well as make you a little extra cash.

Contact your local red cross or a hospital, they will probably be able to tell you where to go to give plazma. Be ready for a lengthy exam before your first donation. They check pretty much every inch of your body to make sure you don't have any track marks.

I may be incorrect, but I believe that only donated blood and plasma can be used in transfusions. If you are paid for it, it can only be used for research. I believe the justification was that the people who sell plasma have a motive to lie about any medical conditions/diseases, and thus pass them on to patients. I'll go look it up right now.

I donate blood on a regular basis and I would encourage everyone to do the same. It is the easiest way to help out in your community.

I did this while in the Army from '92 to '94. Used the money to help with my car payment.

You are correct, but the donated plasma is still used for purposes that help those in need, used in medicine and such. Again, thanks to all who donate blood and plasma, you have saved this life, more than once.
