I recently won a box of LaMaximiliana's. I always try one when I receive a new cigar and these were just terrible. Do they need to be aged in order them to taste right? The same thing happened with a box of 6 samplers of LaFlor Dominican, I tried one of 'em and it was very harsh. OK, experts, let me know what I should do.
Thanks in advance.......Brent

Sorry to hear that about the LaFlor Dominicana's. I've never heard of that before. I suppose they need to be aged. Couldn't help you with the Maximiliana's though, never had one, sorry.

I never have tried the La Maximiliana's but being from the "aging camp", you should put them in your humidor and see what happens over the next year. You might be lucky a find that they could really come around...or not.I hope that they do because I know how frustrating it is to buy a box and they turn out awful and your only recourse is too give them away or let them sit in your humidor taking up space.I had a box of Savoy Governors(a cigar boomer) do this for a year but it paid off because I now consider these to be amongst my best cigars(ironic considering their price). As for the La Flors the last one that I had was dry, sour and harsh(too young) so I shied away from them but many people prefer these as they are a well made cigars so maybe let these sit as well.Smoke something else in the meantime because not all cigars need this kind of treatment:)

My La Maxmilliana Luxus were pretty good right out of the box. The La Maxmilliana Dulcis I just received aren't very good right out of the box and might need some time in the humidor. The La Maxmillianas are already four years old.

Sometimes you need to let them stabilize after shipping. Always do your best to set them rest for 2-4 weeks after shipping before you light them up.
