It's funny how you can be in a web group like this and not even know that some of the members are literally right in your own back yard.

This is the small world of Killerdriller, Flyerfixer and Rayder1.

Seeing these many culdesacs brings up an issue that is currently on the burner in local politics. One of the city planners has the idea to make sidewalks connect up to the main roads. People have to walk completely around several blocks just to get to the neighbor across the street behind you. A good idea if you ask me. IE, take any one of those culdesacs and put a sidewalk straight north.

The city of Clovis was carefully planned many years ago to create a deterrant for crime. You cannot enter a neighborhood and exit easily. The design is one that unless you pick on a corner house on a main street, it is difficult to get out of a neighborhood. The same design was applied to business and shopping centers. (It's funny to see a crook try and evade the local police here...if you turn on a city street...you are caught...period.) Every house here was built with built-in alarms as well.

I don't know if the design had any effect on the extremely low crime rates here in town but i can say it didn't hurt.

The city immediately adjacent to Clovis (Fresno) has one of the highest per capita crime rates in the state. Clovis has one of the lowest. I'll take my windy streets and cul-de-sacs any day.

one of the reasons i chose my block is it has a stop sign at both ends of the block. it is a double dead end street that leads to a cross street.

a T at each end. we have virtually no crime on my block other then the fact i live here which people say is a crime.

but i earn my stay by keeping watch for the ET's.

I live on a cul-de-sac myself and I like it that way. No traffic to really speak of, except for the folks who live there...
