Here is a pic of my brother-in-law's Weymann's #7.
It is in pristeen original condition.
That probably doesn't mean much to the masses, but to the banjo pickers, well........

That's one nice banjo!!! Not a picker, but I love the music. I always wanted to give it a try but the guitar just keeps calling me back.

Nice instrument. I dabble at blue grass picking on a 5-string myself, but have always enjoyed 4 string strumming style. The only other Weymann I had ever seen belonged to a Mummer, was/is your brother one?

I never got into the banjo myself, was always more of a 6-string guitar man... But, my former boss at The Music Room in Muncie, Indiana is quite the banjo freak. His name is Jon Bulton, and in his heyday, was one of the top pickers in the country. He used to tour with Bela Fleck and Steve Martin(yes, Steve Martin the actor was quite a picker himself...) Anywho, Jon has a prized Gibson Earl Scruggs series banjo that he treats like it is his child, beautiful piece of equipment, and a marvelous tone. Good banjos definitely make some top notch music in skilled hands.

Steve Martin used to play banjo with Nitty Gritty Dirt Band when he toured as their opening act in the early 70's! He can stand in with any blue grass band, or at least he could-not sure he still plays much!

PS that is a pretty damn nice lookin' banjo

mrkmitch:
No,he is not a mummer. He grew up in South Philly, but never got into the parade, for some reason.
I, on the other hand, have marched up Broad Street in the "comics" many times over the years.

I like the banjo, but know nothing about them. If I had to guess though, that looks to be a dang fine instrument.

WOW NICE. I play a Fender 5 string but am not very good. My father was a big Bluegrass fan and I guess I caught the bug from him. I always love to hear Steve Martin play, he is very good. Someday I want to be able to play Foggy Mountain Breakdown, but I am not there yet. If you don't alrady own it go buy a copy of Nitty Gritty Dirt bands, Will the Circle be Unbroken (1970's?). Awesome piece of collaborative music including greats like Mother Maybelle Carter and Earl Scruggs plus many, many others.
