Could you use an old tire from a harley electra glide if you don't happen to have any F-16 parts lying around in your garage?

I can locate a used F-16 tire if needed.. the diamiter of the tire is the same distance across as Home Plate.. thus the tire to use... or if someone knows someone at a military base they could possibly try and retrieve one there???

It gives the kids a chance to build their arms for not only pitching, but also aiming to get the ball to 1st 2nd or 3rd base and even home plate to beat the slide!!

My son came by last week and was talking about being at the mall and they had this pitching thing in there.. all the other kids and adults were playing it and recording their speeds... 45, 67, 71, etc... he said he played it and tossed two in the 80's and his last one was 91 mph.. I just smiled and reflected on his years as playing little league and the pitchers box.. I asked him if he tried any of his sliders or knuckle balls?? he just laughed... these were some we had worked on also and never got them down pat..LOL

he threw 91? why isn't he pitching for a team somewhere. that's very good speed. there are pro pitchers that can't throw with that kind of speed. i'd think someone would be interesting in developing his arm if he has that kind of strength.

I don't know which one's you got?? Insight is good and Hotmail is good... I don't know what other ones you been sending to but it ain't me LMAO!!!

Lofty... my son gave up on his last two years of school he could have been playing basket ball in college and the pro's by now also... but a divorce and other issues in his life caused problems that ruined his chances at something Great...

He still has the talent but not the chances to even be looked at...

He's a forklift driver now.. just completed his GED and still aiming at becoming a Marine.. he just needs 15 hrs of college credit to become that Goal...

he'll be playing in the 3 on 3 this weekend he's 6'6" and can hit from anywhere on the court...

that's incredible to me. if he's that athletic, he can still play ball. unless he's in his upper 20s, i'd say he needs to try out for baseball. tryouts are open to everyone around here. i thought that was the case around the country. how old is he? if he's not too old, he can play on a farm team. sounds like he's got a cannon of an arm.

He'll be 21 in August.. and the old man is coming off the Wagon to go cathousing with his Son for his BD.. ;0)

he's more into the Basketball then Baseball... but he's still eyeballing college so maybe it would be something to look into?? I'll talk to him about it and see

I know at the time little league.. he had allot of trouble batting.. we worked and worked on this when I coached him.. but he didn't care as much about that as he did putting batters back on the bench ;0)

Hog, the local teams like the Grizzlies here in Collinsville are always looking for good pitchers.

i hate to threadjack your thread like this hog, but i just hate seeing a guy with obvious physical talent working for a living like me when there are so many undeserving punks getting paid to play a game. do you think any of the guys in the NBA draft are considering joining the marines? hell, no. that move alone speaks volumes of the character of your son. his whole life he'll be thinking, "man, i coulda done that. i'd be rich enough to retire by now." that will be at 28 years old, by the way. at least if he tries, we'll be able to say that he tried. if he doesn't, he'll regret it forever.

Hog,

Just saw this post.

I will take a look at this. I have already thrown something together with PVC tubing and netting. Based it on something I saw at a baseball camp my son attended last year.

FYI- We lost in the AA chamionship game this year 5-2.

Bright spot was my son pitched a 3 hit, 2 walk shutout in the semi final game.

Thanks,
B

Uncleb... That season for your son and yourself sounds Fantastic!! the PVC thing probably isn't to far off from this.. as long as it gives the kids the general concept of Aim, Speed, and area of concern (strike zone) from there they can develop their arm and work on their different delivery modes as their strength developes.. main thing to consider.. their young and growing.. the game is not as important as building their strength in their arm to keep the momentum... don't ever over exert the player/pitcher to bring home a win... after I built this for my son.. I/we moved it down to the ball field during the season, before the season so that other kids could use it while at practice and playing with their friends.. when the season started and through the season.. other parents and coaches commented on how it had helped with their pitchers/kids when it came to game time... I've watched games.. especially in All Stars Games where coaches have pushed their players where the pitcher has had tears in his eyes because of cramps/pains from over exertion on the arm... it can ruin a young boy not only physically but mentally also...

"his whole life he'll be thinking, "man, i coulda done that. i'd be rich enough to retire by now." that will be at 28 years old"

Lofty,
He hasn't given up on the sports... Basketball he plays on an (what is called) old mans team every sunday that he has off.. and he still competes in the three on three tourney's when there running in the areas = 100 miles...Right now all he/we can do is see what the future holds??

He plays this Monday in a 3 on 3 and I'll be there video taping and I'll capture some pics and post them...
