Being flipper does change the effect of the pic. Gotta wonder if the guy on the board knew tho.

I'm sure of it. Otherwise, I'd hope he'd be facing the opposite direction.

I surf and maybe three times a year I'll have a close encounter with dolphins.

Tell you what, if you don't see 'em comming they scare the crap out of you. Then you're happy they aren't a great white.

Crazy stuff down in Florida. Thems is little sharks compared to what we gots where I live.

Negative Ghostrider....a dolphin is a mammal, a dolphin fish is a fish. For example, the name “dolphin” is correctly applied to two different sea creatures, one a fish, and the other a mammal. “Dolphin” by itself usually refers to any of the various species of long-nosed, smooth-toothed porpoises, which are mammals related to the whale. The common “porpoise” of Florida waters is actually the bottlenosed dolphin, Tursiops truncatus. The other “dolphin” which is more correctly called the dolphin fish or dorado (Coryphaena hippurus), is a large oceanic fish known for its spectacular color changes when hooked. Great pic though.

That looks a little big for a dolphin....could it be a whale??

dolphin fish are yummy...and fun to catch.

also referred to a Mahi-Mahi (Hawaii), Dorado (CA), slammers, etc.

I get funny looks all the time when I tell people that I catch and eat dolphin, and while I HAVE known people who actually hooked a "mammal" dolphin, I have never heard one one landed by hook and line.

I'm sure it has been done though....although a conscientious angler would cut the line before the mammal was injured.

I was thinking that it looks too big to be a dolphon as well, but then I figured that it was just the way the sun was reflecting through the water. Water does some strange stuff to light.

Andy, had a dolphin chase the 22" Redfish I was reeling in once. Thought it was going to steal my lunch!! Released the Red anyway.

My Audoban (sp?) book says that fish is a "Dolphin Fish"...........

it was named such so that people could avoid confusing it with the slightly larger mammal.

I don't care what it is.........I don't like being in the water that close to something that's that much bigger than I am...............
