This was Sunday 16th day after his accedent...

He loves this Game.. I can remember back the first Basketball I got him.. he was 5 yrs old and the ball was as big as he was... and he would dribble and play with it constently... we spent allot of hours playing on the BB courts in his old hometown...

God Bless!!

Hog, if he has any strenth on his right side, have him try to shoot from that side. Tell him it will help his brain. He doesn't have to do a ton of them, because that will just frustrate him, but once in awhile have him try a couple. Anytime you ask your brain to do something it isn't used to doing, even as little as walking backwards or using the other hand to write, you are building new neural pathways. Studies have shown that people who have strokes or brain trauma can shift certain tasks to the uninjured parts of the brain that were being unused. So, it pays to keep the gray matter elastic!

Heather,

the first couple days of therapy he favored his right side and even told the techs he was left handed.. but this picture was taken Sunday and Johnny shoots with both hands left hand guiding and right hand launching (see his other picture of him shooting) it looks as though he used his left hand here.. but he did use and has been using his right (which was his dominant ability more and more.. good signs of healing.. they told us and also gave us a book to share yesturday with the rest of the family and friends about the trauma he had gone through and what may or may not be expected in his recovery stages...

He's doing great today.. the Male Nurse and myself gave him a shower this morning.. First one he's had since his accedent.. so he was refreshed for Therapy at 11... gotta get for now.. Thanks for all the info and the Prayers!!!

God Bless
