If you don't want to send your money to those people (as you mention above) then don't. I don't know though, you might be able to give your money via check, and just put "only give this to white people that can talk like white people do" in the "memo" section. I hear you, and I wasn't trying to debate you.

it's just that the word "refugee" holds a certain "status" to it. It makes us think of third world, starving, boat people, or even worse.

Nobody will admit that race is playing into this issue and this trajedy but it is.

I really don't like race issues, because if you try to discuss them, most people get VERY defensive. They get defensive because they don't want to be viewed as prejudiced because they know it's wrong.

The fact is, everyone has prejudice. You, me, even Santa Claus. The best way to deal with it is to look at yourself and admit you have it, instead of being defensive about it (not you personally, that's just a generalization).

If these were whites in Beverly Hills they'd be called "survivors" or "displaced residents."

since they are black though, they are being called "refugees." It's that simple......
