doesn't seem very accurate. it would take a pretty terrain-altering event to flood my house, but they assessed my risk to be "moderate to low." i'm thinkin' it's a lot closer to low.

I question its accuracy too.

We would need to see a few Cat 5's consecutively to get flooded.

they tell me

Our system cannot currently access risk information for your property.

I was curious since there is no body of water within 5 miles and that is a stream.

I live on top of a hill, and according to that site, I am at moderate risk ... seems like a way to try to sell flood insurance to me . . . (?)

Well let's see... I live in a valley... BUT, that valley happens to be 1100+ feet above sea level. I think i'm good to go.

Earthquakes are what I should be worried about. But, since my house was built in 2000, I think i'm relatively safe there too, unless the earth opens up below it. My house is a slab of cement, sitting ON TOP of dirt that has been packed down flat.

I believe you are right about the whole insurance thing. I live on top of a mountain and mine was listed "moderate to low". The graph was right in the middle.

Not very accurate. I live at the top of a very large hill with no water around me and they say I'm at risk.

I live 1/4 mile from the mississippi. And about 100 ft above it, on a block of granite. If I flood we're over!

I live on the top of a mesa. In addition to that, I live on the top floor of my condo building. The only risk I have of flooding, is if my bathtub overflows and I'm off dicking around.

Hell I'm living on pretty much high ground myself here in So Cal. We get Flash Flood warnings all the time but I don't put too much stock in them. It's not like I'm living in AZ or NV.

I grew up here in OC/CA and it floods relatively speaking all the time during the rain seasons. It could happen.

I guess the OC basin/flatland has flooded drastically in the past. Like back in the 40's or 50's.

Right Rick??? LOL

I aint sweatin' ****! just yet?...LOL

Let's see, I live in Yorktown, VA. York river to the north, back river/ chesapeake bay to the to the east and south. James river to the west. I'm not sure how high above sea level I am but we didn't flood out during Floyd(99) or Isabel(03). The web page says high risk, but according to my local flood map I'm above the 500 year flood zone.

I live In Daytona on a ridge that runs from St Augustine to Cocoa Beach. I am supposed to be the highest point within 50 miles.

I was told that my chances of flooding are slim to none. I guess being 1.5 miles due west of the Halifax river and 2.0 miles due west of the Atlantic ocean, It would be interesting to see if this place did flood if a cat 4-5 came through.

The website said I am low to moderate.

SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!@ =I don't even have flood insurance, Wife, call the agent-get it now!

None. I live on a hill. Where Arkansas tornadoes have a good shot at me.
