This is an aerial of my place and my dad's (approx boundaries in white). Hunting stands in yellow. Typical deer movement in red (gun season is a little more out in the open).

We can also hunt the surrounding acreage.494477.jpg

I had a rotten experience with videotaping a hunt. The stand that is second from the left int hat pic is actually a portajohn which has been elevated on four poles to about 12ft (to the base of it form the ground). Windows were cut and framework installed for a gun rest.

This is an EXCELLENT spot because it allows a clear line of sight/fire down the hill into the gullies where deer travel, and also along some brush fencelines and open fields.

Anyway....it was Doe season, and this fellow (whom I didn't really care for)decided that he would sit with me in this little ****box and tape my shot, should I be so lucky.

It was cramped to say the least. One crapper ain't made to hold 500lbs of man in puffy orange suits.

At any rate, after an hour or so, I see a hunter drop intop the woods a few hundred yards away. I start scoping the woods edge seeing what will push out and sure enough, here comes a nice doe. JAckass has yet to spot him.

The tip of my rifle was already out the appropriate window for the shot (about 75 yards). So I begin to slowly bring it to my cheek. I am ON the deer; a good broadside shot. Safety is OFF, pressure is on the trigger. I think for a second about alerting this jackass beside me, who still hasn't even seen this deer yet and I think, "Screw Him, who needs the pressure".

Just then, he turns his whole fat ass in seat and says....no SHOUTS....."Theres one".....shoot it!!!

The whole stand is shaking and she has heard his comment, but I don't think she understood it because she didn't run right away. I whisper "settle", and can hear the tape rolling now.

I get back on the target....she is at full alert, tail held high, looking straight at us. It is still a good shot........hold breath.......squeeze....squeeze......

........Jackass moves again to get a better camera angle, bumps my rifle shoulder, and BOOM. He videotapes the deer flying off like a bat out of hell.

I felt sick. I have never missed EVER in my life. I avoid shots with a potential to miss/maim; now I may have allowed myself to take an irresponsible shot and I MAY have wounded this deer.

My string of expletives were caught on video as I I was pretty much tossing this guy's fat ass out of my stand.

I heard a couple shots a few hundred yards away, the direction she ran. Fingers crossed, I tramped o ver towards the shots and came upon two hunters and a freshly killed doe with a bullet hole in the rump.

Alls well that ends well, I suppose, but that story isn't among my favorites to tell.

Great story andy!!

Wait till you see the video. I missed the doe the first shot. I was soo concentrating on making a good shot on video.. that i didnt notice my arrow had fallen off the rest.

Eric says.. "i got her" i let loose and WHHAAANNGGG... the arrow goes 5-8 feet BEHIND HER REAR~!! HAA HAA..

Long story short...they all ran off..and came back about 10 minutes later.

They come trotting down the fence row. and Eric tries to spin around the tree, his safety belt gets stuck and he cant get the camera around. You see the camera point twards the sky.. you hear this "wait.. wait"..then he get it together... WHAP... i nail her right through the boiler room.

It all sound funny ... but the whole hunt turned out AMAZING on the video. They wanted to put it first to set the tone for the whole video. That we are real guys, having fun doing what we love. And to show that its not some big fake production like so many other peoples videos! I think you will really enjoy it. I will send you a DVD.

I hate seeing myself on camera though..... WHAT A FN DORK!!!
