all-

my pop's family is from a small mountain village in hong kong. in the 50's, they migrated to mexicali, mexico, a border town about two hours south of palm springs. there he met my mom, a native of sinaloa, mexico; married her, and had two kids, me & my sister. two years after i was born, we moved to los angeles. they have all been naturalized and thus, american citizens.

well, after only 36 short years of living in l.a., i will finaly be sworn in this thursday, oct. 20.

american. by choice.

What the hell took you so long?

My wife got here in 1991. Got her license and a job in 1993 (when we renewed her green card, the first one is only good for 2 years) and then when it was time to renew again in 2003 (each subsequent card is good for 10 years) I told her ass I wasn't paying for another green card so she best get her damn citizenship.

She swore in on January 10th 2003. I was in the Persian Gulf and missed the whole damn thing.

Congratulations man. God bless you.

Congrats! I know exactly how you feel. I became a US citizen in '97 after being here for 22 years.
