Ryan,
Cordovan is not tricky.....making it is though. Those are Alden Shoes by the way.
Cordovan in fact is not calf leather but rather horse leather from the hindquarters. One horse equals about 2-3 pairs of shoes. Very difficult to make, and about 6 months to tan the hide. Cordovan is pretty much an American thing, and it is getting harder and harder to find. Only one company in America (Chicago I think) still makes cordovan leather.
The soles are leather. I don't wear rubber soled shoes unless I'm in sneakers, although there are some cats that do. It's acceptable for some, but I just don't do it.
I have cordovan belts, but since I was in a red tie with a yellow shirt, I opted for the black belt. Red on top, in the middle, and on the bottom is just too much for me. The belt would've taken attention away from my tie.....my really loud tie. That and the fact that I brought 3 suits on this trip and I didn't want to pack two belts.
The peace sign.....it's crazy, they all do it.
