Valentino Rossi. Others win only when he lets them. He has gotten bored with winning world championships on inferior motorcycles. So now he is contemplating racing Formula 1 cars. And why not? He lapped only one second off the lap record on his first drive in the Ferrari.511405.jpg

Rossi is incredible. I believe that it would be a big mistake for him to race in F1. He will not succeed and he will take Ferrari further down. F1 racing is a completely different and political animal from MotoGP.

The Yamaha definately is not an inferior bike now with Burgess' magic sprinkled on it & the best rider developing it - seeing the massive amount of corner speed that bike carries in comparison to the RCV is quite amazing. Rossi rides with a 2 stroke style unlike the other Yamaha riders (Xaus and Edwards) with the exception of Elias who is in his first year & is impressing everyone with his abilities even though he wasn't the best rider in 250 cc the prior year. Honda won't let the hierarchy go and let Melandri and Hayden develop the spec '06 bike now, which is a stupid decision since they are the best contenders they have (who knows what Pedrosa will do).

As for his formula one career, that is still highly in doubt since he seems way more interested in rally racing, which he has done miserable in. Regardless, to lap within 5% of Schumacher's lap record at the Ferrari testing facility with only 65 laps under his belt is highly impressive. I don't think he will do formula one due to high politics that won't let him be himself - an emotional charachter who will speak out about anything that he doesn't believe in. This is a big no-no in car racing as compared to what he is used to in MotoGP.

Yes, he is the man and looks like a 6' tall monkey with a fro - but he is a lady killer from all the rumors & is the best rider ever, so my hat is off to him.

I believe Hayden and Melandri will do the development work this off season.

Oh oh......I just read to the contrary. Honda is stubborn. It took them years to realize the RC45 was a piece of garbage.

Yeah, Honda is the juggernaut that could easily push everyone around in all racing no more than 3 years ago, but now with the development of the RCV headed straight into chatter under brakes everyone is clueless what to do. Their superbike program is not competitive in WSBK with the exception of Vermuelen who could only compete later in the season and isn't a true factory bike. AMA bikes are self developed since their inefectiveness to repsond to HRC USA demands for development help, so now the only true factory bike is in British Superbike and was beaten by a Ducati to the championship, which shouldn't happen when they are down 15 hp and comparable riders.

Honda is in a tailspin & needs to get out of it and take their best riders and let them develop their style on the bike early on so they even have a shot of beating Rossi.

I just got a huge poster signed by Valentino & am framing it now

I can't wait until he drives for Ferrari. My guess for the future is that Ferrari will have the driver team of Rossi and Raikkonen. A definate killer combonation.

I don't know, I've heard some talk that Montoya would be the one to go to Ferrari instead of Raikkonen (even though that is what the media thinks is going to happen). If McClaren does lose Raikkonen that would be one of their biggest mistakes ever.

On the Rossi subject though, his testing was extremely impressive. Being able to handle a Formula 1 car in a race situation might be a different story though. Just ask Sato.

Nice to get the chance to talk a little Formula 1 on this forum. A race, a cup of coffee and an Italia or RP Sungrown. The perfect Sunday morning.
