Is it just me or did this world series just not really matter that much?

I'm gonna have to agree with Country.

The Senator's leaving DC in '71 also didn't help.

Then again, I've been losing interest since free agency began due to Curt Flood. Athletes became mercenaries & have little or no loyalty to their hometowns anymore.

Now boxing...

Thank you cigarkid22!

You said "Congrats to all the Sox Fans out there"

I appreciate the support, but I'm dissappointed that the Sox bowed out in the first round of the playoffs this season.

Maybe next year Manny will have his head on straight and the refurbished Fenway Park will provide a moral boost to the team.

We fans in Boston certainly do love our Sox.

Anytime the Yankees didn't pay enough to buy their World Series championship, it means a lot to me.

"just you. south side chicago fans of the white sox found out what it means to win the world series again."

Sledn: I know it meant alot to southside chicago, what I'm saying is usually in a world series the majority of fans around America aren't seeing there team in the World series but there is a team that they attach themselves to in the competition....like last years Redsox. But this year it seemed that wasn't the case.

cigarkid22: "How 'bout them sox, Something the cubs could never ever do"

....cigarkid... you do know that the Cubs have won a World series before, right? There are teams in the MLB that have never won a world series but the cubs aren't one of them. Just wondering what you're talking about as usual.

Country, my point is that the Cubs probably will take another 100 years from today to win it, that was my point, as far as you statement about not understanding me, probably because you are a CUBS FAN!!

Any World Series matters to a serious baseball fan, and yes, I hate what free agency and steroids have done to the great sport, but it is still the best team sport of all!

Congrats Sleddn!

I got mine last year, you get yours this time.

Baseball probably has the deepest roots for its fans for their specific teams. For me, once my team is out, I only have a passing interest in the Series.

When my football team gets eliminated, I still watch every minute of every game I can.

I thought it was a really good World Series ... other than the TV networks, who the hell cares if teams from New York or LA weren't involved? ...

And, while it's true the Astros couldn't find the way to win any of the games, they could easily have won any or all of them had a few breaks gone their way ...

I thought it was a very good WS and I enjoyed it immensely ... my only complaint is that it was too short ... I'd like to have seen it go to 6 or 7 games ...
