thats a GREAT dream....and I hope you acheive it.

I'm screwed.....my dream is to have a big offshore sportfisher. Even if I could afford it (say I luck into a deal for $500,000), you need to be a millionare to store it, feed it diesel, etc.

That's a beautiful machine. Hope you get one someday.

Me? I prefer to be surrounded by metal, plastic and airbags.

I just bought an Okuma Titus Gold 30TW 2-speed reel.

I've been watching these a while and while thet ARE NOT PENNs, they are very nice, and not as costly.

The Okuma tournament rods are nice too.........with all Aftco rollers and butt.

I'll post a pic sometime.

BTW....that is probably my FIRST endorsement of a reel other than PENN & Shimano.........PENN is by far my favorite reel; just can't afford the big internationals. If I ran professionally, I would have PENN Internationals all around.

I used to have a Custom Stand Up Rod with a Shimano TLD30 . . . that was nice.

I also had 5 Penn Spinners, all on custom rods. From Live Bait Reel to a Penn 750 . . . I got rid of them when I left the keys . . . sigh.

Jet,

not bragging, but hell!.....this are my babies. Here is my arsenal so far;

PENN 4600 Liveliner on a PENN Mariner 6' Medium/Heavy Rod (snook/tarpon)....50lb powerpro for fishing bridges.

PENN Slammer 360 on a Custom (my own) 8' medium/light rod. 8lb P-line for live bait & all purpose.

PENN Slammer 260 on a 8'6" LIGHT custom (mine) spinning rod built on a 6wt fly blank. 6lb powerpro for casting light baits a friggin mile.

PENN International 955 Baitcaster on a custom Medium E-Glass rod.....my redfish rod....25# powerpro.

Shimano Stradic 1000 of a Cabelas 6'6" tournament grade rod (got a deal....had to replace the tip)....12# powerpro, for specs, all-purpose, and bass.

PENN 750SS on an old Garcia Conolon 10' glass rod....light surf.

Okuma 30TW II on an Okuma Tournament 30 rod...65# powerpro......yet to use for anything.

I have left most of this stuff down at my brother's place in S. Fla.

My good buddy is getting married next year and has asked me to be best man. He is gonna have a custom rod built as my gift, so I have to decide what type of rod I need. I was thinking maybe a 8-9 ft med/hvy for snook/tarpon.

I used to live on a canal in the keys, and most afternoons I would butterfly a rotten ballyhoo, and thread a hook thru it, throw it out in the canal and leave the bail open . . . Pretty soon, the tail walking would commence . . . One day I caught a nice 40lb tarpon on 12lb test ! woo-hoo !!!

thats awesome...I have not caught a big tarpon. The ones in the Indian River canals were small (10-15lb).

Yeah....I'm thinking on replacing that old conolon with something that I can use in the surf next time I'm down for the mullet run.
