How many of you "accidentally" buy way too much candy for the Trick or Treaters just so you can feast on the rest?

Or do you turn off your lights, hide in the basement and hope your house doesn't get egged?

Two years ago I made 4 trips back to the store for more candy. Last year I had TONS left over. I'm going to try for something in-between the two extremes this year.

I tend to overload on candy. It's great watching the kids' faces light up when I give them a huge handfull of stuff and then I still have left over candy.

My boy is 16 - he doesn't go out anymore.

I usually buy the little candy bars in large bags and hand out a few to each kid.

When I was a kid I hated getting cheapo candy, so as the 'distibutor' now, I try to get what I wanted when I was a kid.

Snickers, Kit Kats and Reese's at my house tonight.

Last year I handed out 2 cigars to each father that brought the kids around while the wife passed out the candy. Those dad's are going to be upset this year......I moved.

You know this got me to thinking...

Back when I was a kid (early 1800's)

Though we certainly got our share of store bought candy, we always knew where to go for the lady that gave out home made candy apples, and fudge, and taffy, and cakes...

Times have changed. Now we wouldn't dare let kids have any of the stuff.

I live in the country so I don't hand out candy, but yes I have to have candy corn, it's my favorite halloween candy. The family gets together for a party and even the grown ups get a bag of candy lol

Ok, now I need a caramel apple!!

My wife buys all the candy for the little moochers. If she let me buy it, I would buy the cheapest Wal-Mart has. SHe buys the good stuff. Double size Mars variety packs and M&Ms with peanuts, Snickers and Reese's and Tootsie Rolls Pops.

JHC on a popsicle stick. I'll bet she spent $40 on candy. And, we always have WAY too much left over.

Snowquuen..

I live in Maryland So going to Daves in Pa is a possability...(or I should say was.. I checked with my son and for some reason he feels that 120 mile round trip with his children is a little much for 2 free cigars)

But Texas... hope you have some REALLY GOOD candy for me to make that trip.

I definately over buy. I've got a sweet tooth and you gotta buy low, especially when the bags of little candy bars are around the two dollar mark you gotta stock up.

i buy the candy and make sure that I get what I like to eat. my wife takes our kids out and I serve the kids that come by the house. I usually don't have any left for myself when it's all said and done but it works out in the end. I still get to rummage through my kids bags and get a piece or two.

The year I moved up onthe hill here a few trick or treaters stopped by. I didn't have any candy so I handed out chestnuts.

Haven't had any since.
