nice reel,

I would have bought one, but prefer lever drag.

I have broken off before becasue I am too stupid to operate a start drag correctly.

Ya know.....I REALLY love those old reels.

I really should get one.

The problem with me is that once you begin to study up on reels, there are SO many new features, and big shiny machined aluminum frames, and all kind of endoresments from pro fisherman..........you just HAVE to buy crap you can't really afford.

These reels are still a staple on professional bottom fishing party boats.....'nuff said.

BTW....these are STILL made in the good ole USA (Philly actually), and PENN customer service is FANTASTIC! I've called them with issues before and their techs have sent me parts free of charge and told me how to put things back together, etc.

hey Andy, they have not made them for over twenty years.

thems the Biggest Damn Reals ever made, try 1500 yards of 150lbs. mono. if I was to put power pro WOW who knows how much line...

they still make a 14/0 but they don't make them like they use ta, they now have aluminum spools and hold nowhere near the amount'o line as there big brother.

sorry dude....my bad.

That IS the BIGGUN!!

Powerpro is the poop though it is quite costly.

I have about 700 yards on that reel I posted. I figure I'll tie on 50-100yds of mono if I wanna troll, or just a short leader for bottom fishin.

yep, that's the way... even if and when you loose line just tie the power pro on and you got your self a winner...
