I know we have a broad range of interests among the BOTL on this board. I recently started getting into Mixed martial arts and "ultimate fighting".

Anyone else out there enjoy watching 2 modern day gladiators test there skills in a cage?

I used to watch it years ago when a friend had a satelite hot card. It was great!

I heard Spike is now showing it. I may have to start watching TV again.

back then only biting and eye gouging was illegal and it was sooo bloody.

I keep hearing about the "original" fights. It seems that due to the sometimes extreme nature of those fights, the current ownership doesn't want them marketed. They were too brutal for the mainstream product they are trying to sell today on Spike TV and Pay per view.

Does anyone happen to have copies of these old events?

i have about 6 hours on a VHS tape from the first 5 or 6 UFC fights. they did a 6 hour special during new years back in 95-96, i think. i only have 1 VCR, so i can't record it for you. i'd be happy to send you a tape if i had a way to record it.

I have watched for years, and if you ask me the new fight are better. Don't get me wrong dudes like: The Beast and (my favorite) Don Frye still kick ass, but Randy Coture and Andre Arlovski are insane.

Years back, I was tempted to enter a Tough Man tournament, but these UF guys have to have a screw loose.

I'm amazed that no one is seriously hurt longterm.

The UFC special on Sat. was nice. I'm not a big Diego fan, thought the scoring should have been closer.

Hell yes I remember the knee drops. My favorite Severn fight is his first, (I think) when he suplexes the kickboxer 3 times one after the other.Man that guy couldn't even move afterwords. lmao.

Pride is incredible, slightly looser rules to encourage more stand-up and no cage. Pride really draws fighters from all over the world. Cro-cop and Fedor are nasty!

Pinto you hit my man right on the head....I love to watch Cro-Cop fight. That foot of his is unstopable if you get hit by it.
