Okay... I know there are haters out there...

Flame on, so we can be all squared up over the Beatles bashing.

But I really like this band. Just like the Beatles, they have their fans and those who don't care for them.

Back in HighSchool,

We would be hanging out drinking beer, smokin herb, and someone would say, Put in some Led for the Head.

My favorite tune??? Black Dog

Shawn.....just when I think you can't get any worse, you go and do something like this!

And totally redeem yourself!!

I agree!

While I don't like the fact that my wife listens to them 24/7 and that they ripped off a lot of tunes from some of my other favorite artists (namely Ledbelly), they are probably the greatest rock band of all time...

and Andy...you are wrong. The best Zeppelin Album is clearly III follwed closely behind by Physical Graffiti (which would be number 1 if not for Kasmir) and Houses of the Holy. IV falls way behind and might even be my least favorite Zep album.

About a month ago, in a thread far, far away you said Zeppelin had gotten old and you had gotten tired of it. What happened? A moment of clarity?

As far as your subject line, I concur. I can't even begin to name a favorite song or album. Zeppelin is like pizza and sex... even the worst I ever had was pretty good.

Hammer of the Gods!

Like Coda said..There is no way I can pick a favorite. They are all my favorites. This band is one of the main reasons I became a musician. Well, a drummer for you "guitarists" out there. There is no other band that can move me emotionally like these guys. The music flows thru my soul. They are my music Valhala....

Im going to go home now and put "How the West Was Won" in the Ol DVD, kick back and transcend to that place only The MIGHTY LED ZEPPELIN can take me!!!

I think Im going to cry...

I hear you BD.

I am a guitar guy, but am ASTOUNDED by the power and intricacy of Bonzo's beats. I find myself listening more and more carefully to the drums on zep songs.

When I hear the Rain Song..........I close my eyes and just chill.

When I hear "Out on the Tiles", "Rock and Roll", etc, I bang my head and rock!

When I hear "Since I've BeenLoving You" or "Tea for One", I want to buy cigarettes and sulk in a dive bar.

Songs like "Ten Years Gone", "In the Light", "Tangerine" are so bittersweet that I want to sob and remember old friends.

Truly a band for all occasions that will NEVER be surpassed.

"Black Dog" still surprises me, every time I listen to it.

Who the hell thinks of music like that?

Coda - Doesn't mean I don't own all their albums.

It just means i've listened to them so many times i've actually gotten bored with them. I always go back.

If I HAD to pick one album, it's be II.

I was trying to give the beatles fans a chance to bash my favorite band, but I guess you just can't badmouth Led Zeppelin.

I should have said Metallica... I love them too and that is a band people either love or hate.

If anyone wants some Metallica compilations, I'd be glad to dupe them from my wife's collection............or file sharing networks.

For some reason I've grown to love classic rock(heavy metal) bands like Led Zeppelin that I didn't get into when I was in highschool. I recently purchased my first Led Zeppelin album at a used record & book sale at a local church. "Presence", ever heard of it? It's nobodys fault but mine for not appreciating this band sooner!

Coda..

The first time I tried to learn the drum line to Black Dog I was thinkin...what the hell??

What a great odd meter tune! The different timings are "bitchin"!

And to answer your question about who writes like that?

The guitarist in my band. He confounds me with his odd meters and screwed up timings. Its quite fun tho.

I will never turn off "Stairway" if it's on the radio...even if it means sitting in my car in the garage for like 8 minutes....

Also - No Quarter - epic psychedelic masterpiece. I could listen to it over and over.
