This is kind of a long read... but here goes.

Took the wife to Red Lobster yesterday afternoon. She had a frozen Margarita and I went with a Karl Strauss Oktoberfest.

Both of us had the garden salad and shared an order of lobster and crab stuffed mushrooms.

We also both ordered the New York strip and lobster tail, I had the veggies, she had a baked potato.

The bill comes and I hand the lady my credit card, completely forgetting that it has been cancelled and a new one is enroute. It comes back stolen.

Well, the waitress comes up and says "Before I tell my manager, I want to let you know your card came back stolen."

*Sigh*

Well... on the 9th I tried to order a box of smokes online and it told me my card was declined. I called the company and said What the ****? They told me there was a fraud alert on my card because it was used in *insert foreign country*. I assured them that it was me and all is well, but I asked when my new card would be arriving, since mine expires this month (November). Well... he said my new card was mailed on 18 October, yet here it is the 9th of November and I still don't have it. He cancelled that card and issued me a new one on the spot... but I left the card in my wallet instead of cutting it up as I should have and forgot about it. D'OH!!

To top it all off... we get home after our meal (which my wife had to pay for) and BOTH cards were in the friggin' mailbox.

Care to share one of your embarrassing moments?

hehe...I have been called by my bank on numerous times, asking if I was making purchases here and there (mostly overseas, from the internet). At least they are on top of things, just in case.

An embarassing moment for me was when I didn't properly put my car in park while leaving it unattended. Actually it did a pretty good job with no driver, only hit one truck ...did more damage to my car than the truck!

LOL@Charlie!! (Sorry SD but it's soooo true)

My most embarrassing moment came when I called cbid to complain about a late shipment & Trish mistook me for MACS and called me a pain in the ass.

Come to think of it, it wasn't so embarrassing for me.

Hmmm, I hear screaming, I'll have to get back to you.

MACS, Yes, that's emberrasing, especially when you know you're good for the money. Credit cards are a HUGE convenience and an even bigger pain in the ass sometimes.

My credit cards are issued against one of my investment accounts. We use it to track expenses and I get a nifty report in January each year outlining all purchases and in which catagory they fall in.

In October of 2002, I made some money moves in that account that were meant to rebalance the investments for growth in the forseeable future. I assumed the sales and purchases would be made and settled in the next 2-3 weeks and I would be able to go about my business as usual. So, I checked daily and saw NO ACTIVITY. My financial advisor had shifted themoney, but the web page didn't update right away. I wasn't concerned until one fine morning when I went to buy gas at the NEX.

CREDIT CARD NOT ACCEPTED....SEE ATTENDANT....

Good thing I had my checkbook. I got to the office and got on the computer and checked my account. It showed all the sale transactions and the money transferred into money market funds owned by the investment firm and none of the shares that the guru and I had discussed. I got on the phone to them and got his assistant and she told me that the purchases were made and not to worry. She had the documentation and it had not reached my account. It takes 2-3 days after the purchases to settle. But, the investments I had bought ....GET THIS....WERE NOT MARGINABLE. In other words, I could not borrow against them.

You can imagine my frustration. As I sat there getting ready to strangle somebody. I could have repurchased something else, but I would have paid commissions and redemption fees and all that other horsecrap because my financial guy didn't tell me I could not borrow against those securities. We worked it out. I had to come up with about $500 more, they waived all comissions and fees on the new purchases. I'm totally happy with the eventual outcome, but it was a pain.

I hear you. The funny part, like you said, I was totally good for it. I only have one credit card, Capital One, with a limit in the 5 digit range and I had a $60 surplus on it because I paid a bit more than necessary last month.

I actually took out 2 forms of ID to prove to the waitress it wasn't stolen, although she told me it was okay. I explained the story to her, as above, and she said... "Watch, the new one will be in your mailbox when you get home."

Classic.

Well, before my last trip out to the sand dunes I needed to load my bed of the truck because the trailer was packed and ready. So I proceed to load the dog kennel(large, enclosed for a full size dog)and a BBQ like a Weber, but smaller. Then I realize I still need to get some more ice and hit the ATM. So I stop everything and run inside to get my wallet and head off. I take off normal speed (25mph) in our neighborhood. Get on the larger city street and ease into the throttle because the engine is still cold. I get lucky and make a few lights but get stopped at a red light and rather large intersection. The bank is just past the intersection so I'm almost there. The light turns green I give her some decent gas and notice the kennel sliding. I stay on the gas because I figure the tailgate will stop it. But NOOOOOOO, I forgot to put the tailgate back up and my BBQ and Kennel go scattering across the intersection. There were cars dodging my BBQ and needless to say I probally gave the other people waiting at the red light a heart attack when the kennel went tumbling also. Little did they know it was empty (no dog inside). So now I get the honors of being a total jackass and having the gather my crap and run it back to my truck in front of 20 or so cars.

That sure is a lot of trouble to go through MACS, I mean to get your wife to pay for dinner and all.

Just tell her you maxed out the card at C-bid and take your lumps like a real man...LOL

That's funny JJ. She had been wanting to go to Red Lobster for awhile. She loves their frozen margaritas and we both love the lobster and crab stuffed mushrooms.

I promised i'd take her friday when I got home from work (she had an eye dr's appt). When her CC bill comes, she'll hand it to me, so either way i'm paying. LOL!

I was walking through a store and saw a girl I remembered from college. She was hot hot hot in college. That was ten years ago and she was still good looking.

We talked for about five minutes. She had mentioned she was married. I saw she was pregnant, so the conversation went there next......

8: So, (looking down a bit) when are you due?

Girl: ............ I'm not pregnant.

I wanted to disappear.

I've had way to many moments to list them all...

But I once was on a Blind date at a Red Lobster with a 350+ lb. woman and her daughter who really didn't like any food other then McDonalds... WHOA! I couldn't wait for that one to be over... then she turned out to be a stalker along with compulsive lier..

conversation was pretty brief after we met in person.. So do you have a rotating account with Midus Muffler and Brakes for Tires, Brakes and STRUTS for your Honda Civic?

We don't normally go to any fine resturaunts, with my busy schedule and picking my daugher up at the babysitters and having to drive the 30+ miles home everyday we usually just go to McDonalds and grab something to eat.. Oh do you own Stock? as I witness the spent wrappers falling out of her car door's when she opened it to pry her ass outa the drivers seat...

Ok gotta stop and take my prozac after that brief flashback!
