Well, our project has been completed. Above are the finished results of mine and i.am.steve's ashtrays. Obviously, we are currently in disagreement on who's ashtray is better.

Very nice! You should post instructions on a web page. Did you make the whole thing or just add the bottom part?

Thanks! We purchased the ashtrays - you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find clear glass 4-finger ashtrays. We then glued the bands to a thin black foam that was cut to fit inside the inset portion of the ashtray. Last we glued this to the bottom of the ashtray and sealed the edges. It took a long time to dry, but we both think it was worth the wait.

I'm not sure why...but I like the one on the left. What did you use to glue it on and what's the best way to accomplish that? Also, a little detail on edge sealing please. I have been saving my extra bands for just such a project.

Matt, both trays looks good. Nice job. Very good as a present.

I personally like the one on the left. It has more smokes I'm familiar with. No Padron's on either though...big mistake. I'm gonna have to deduct style points and give it a 9.5! Naw, not really. Good job both of you!

Thanks for the kind words guys & gals. So far, it looks like the vote is leaning toward Steve's ashtray on the left. If everyone would pick a favorite from the two, we could settle this friendly dispute once and for all. I'm willing to offer bribes to those of you willing to support the winning team(me), but don't tell Steve.

Could you drop us a picture with the ashtray flipped over so we can see the underside. I assume its just the foam. BTW, my vote is for Steve's. Cohiba gets the nod.

I don't know which one I like best...They both are sharp...I recognize every band on both ashtrays

Uh oh...Just noticed a Macanudo band on the ashtray to the left...That does it...I like the ashtray on the right much better...The Mac band hurt ya..LOL

Nevermind..They both have Mac bands...I don't like either now..LOL..J/K...Both are great looking!
