.........I have a serious question that some of you know-it-alls may be able to help with.

I eat A LOT of spicy food, so every morning I have a liquid fire experience. As I get older, the abdominal and rectal discomfort is becoming more and more intolerable.

Is there anything (other than stop eating hot food) that can alleviate this condition.

Milk and ice cream SEEM to work, but I'd be interested in the science behind it. Is it lactic acid? Is there a supplement?

Coffee enema and a big board in the back yard. Don't forget the garden hose.

Don't know Andy. I'm 45 and thankfully haven't really started having any adverse reactions to spicy foods and or hot peppers yet (My dad was cursed at a very young age though). In fact more than anything they seem to help bind me up a little if anything. Take for instance I'm at home sick today and nothing helps me feel better when I have a cold/flu than a few of those hot/spicy pickled chili peppers and or jalapenos and 3 or 4 shots of tequila. Oh I'm sure I'll probably pay dearly when I'm around 60, but until then I'll just keep enjoying them. My recommendation would be more tequila and less beer in your diet...LOL

Hope this helps, JJ

Not a lot you can do, Andy. Anti inflammitory cream, use baby wipes w/aloe. Is there any bright read blood on the toilet paper on a regular basis? If there is, mix in a psillium fiber tablet every day with 6 ounces of water.

You might have a anal fissure (a crack on your crack). A doctor's visit wouldn't be the worst thing either. If you have a plan with a deductible, you have to start meeting a new one on January 1st most likely.

Nothing says The Holidays like another person's hand up your arse.

I got to admire you for your continued focus on the topic Andy. I'm no expert, but I used to love hot MF peppers because they gave me an endorphin buzz, which is basically heroin; the hotter they were the better. My understanding was that some proteins in milk would alter the capsaicin from hot peppers, neutralizing the burning affect.

Unfortunately, I had a similar experience as you, and since stopping eating the offending agent worked so well, I highly recommend it. I miss the endorphins, but not near as much as I don't miss the uh ... other part.

Andy,

Nexium.. the lil Purple Pill.. helps allot for the pipes it also helps rebiuld the intestinal lining upper anyways? not sure bout the lower... Like 8Track pointed out.. I don't know your age? but when I was 38 I had to do the upper/lower GI.. Doc found Pollops in the lower and tested came back Negative Ghost Rider on cancerious upper flapper valve was weak as well which caused gurd.. the only way around this was diet which kept me off spicey foods and that lil purple pill I've been taken since 2000 eating my last meal at least 5 hrs before bedtime as well giving the digestive system time to get it all worked down... one thing I was shyed away from for a couple years was Salads for supper..

well you may want to consider what 8Track said then... if you got pollops and the doc removes them it will take an additional 3 weeks before you notice a difference... and at least a week for the bleeding to stop LOL

Don't worry he'll knock you out good... mine said he had to have a couple nurses assist cuz I wasn't very friendly even being knocked out... I woke up a couple hours later in recovery.. didn't have a funny taste in my mouth? but my arse was hurtin a bit? LOL

Andy, I would say your body is trying, desperately, to tell you something. Something like, "Knock it the he!! off you crazy man!" I know you like your spicy foods. Try cutting back to a few times a week and see if that doesn't help.

Dairy products create mucus, which in turn helps protect the digestive tract. Magnesium is also important to the production of mucus (don't you just love that word?). If you are magnesium deficient you won't produce enough. There are a few things you can do about that. One is soaking in an Epsom salt bath. Another is taking a magnesium suppliment. If you get loose (which is beyond soft) stools then you need to cut back. Or, if you can tolerate the dairy, consume more of that.

Oh yeah, a little petroleum jelly on the shooter will protect it and make it less irritated.

Well, you asked, didn't ya'?
