hey guys, ive asked this question before but would like some more insight. the bay has digital cable boxes identical to mine. will they work as a second box in another room or do they need specially programmed?

More than likely your extra box will not work. Most Cable Co.'s with digital boxes have to be able to poll each box to see whether or not you have bought any pay-per views, movies, porn etc. They track what to charge you by being able to interact with each digital box via a return system. So the odds are the extra box will not work unless you know some hot shot computer geek who might be able to help you out. I hope this helps.

It won't work after a while. I bought one at a charity yard sale for $2 and plugged it in. It worked for about one day. The cable company computer finally got around to polling the box and wiped it clean.

I wasn't trying to steal cable, I just wanted a second box and couldn't see paying "rent" for one. No go says Insight cable. If you want a second digital box you're paying the fee.

Don't waste your money.
