Today I met a WW2 army vet standing in line at the local grocery store. He was wearing a WWII veteran ball cap on his head. He saw me reading his cap and smiled, I smiled back and wished him and his a very merry Christmas. He wished me a merry Christmas also. I asked which branch of the service he had served in, Army he replied. He asked what branch I had served in, Navy was my answer.

After his cart was loaded with the groceries and he paid his bill, he turned and shook my hand. Thank you too he said, and with a smart salute he turned and walked away.

Some times a person just knows.....

I've been making an effort to thank every service person I see for the last few months. I usually just say something like "Thanks for your service for our country". I've been amazed by the look of surprise and gratefulnes on their face. Evidently they get little thanks for their sacrifice. One even came back, after he had left, and said "Thank you for that, I'm headed back next month".

I'm not a Vet.

But, I do appreciate all that Veterans have done throughout history. Without all of you guys, this country could never be the Great country she is!

God Bless all of you, and Merry Christmas!!

I also wanted to say thanks to the famlies of the Vets.

It takes alot of love to stand beside someone that is in the service overseas and not at home for sepcial occasions.

My first marriage didn't make it through my first 6 month deployment.

I have one employe that was a vet in nam, my dad also served there. Every veterans day i make a point to thank him, and he told me untill this year I was the only one to do so. I have a great respect for all vets of all services war or peace time. If it was not for them none of us would be here talking on this board. I can not describe the emotions I felt when they played taps at my fathers funeral and gave him a twentyone gun salute. Last year for my birthday my mother gave me his flag in a beatiful display case, and it is one my most cherished posetions. Thank you to all vets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
