Ok,this will take a little knowledge of math and petroleum.

At our local Carson, CA refinery, we produce 270,000 barrels of crude oil per day. AKA,ARCO (BP)

How many gallons of product is produced?? Meaning jet fuel, lamp oil, diesel, and CARB gasoline. The answer should be in gallons and assuming all those products added together.

At 42 gallons per barrel, that would give you 1,134,000 gallons per day.

413,910,000 for 365 days per year

294,840,000 for a 40 hour week.

I must have spilt my drink on my calculator...Let me try again:

4,139,100,000 gallons/ year

Brock

andytv

an estimate:

147857.14

this would have to depend on what mix of product and the type of crude being processed though.

and assuming that you keeep this up for 365 days,

53967857.14

oops......those were estimations for gas only.

From API statistics.....from 270000 per day for a year of crude oil;

gal/yr

Gas 45333000

Diesel 21681000

Jet fuel 9855000

Heavy Oil 5420250

Total 82289250

We have a winner/winners.

Damn, this is tough. I know axpo was responding to my first post thinking a 24 hr period, your numbers figure right. Drathaar- I'm going to be technical and kick yours out because it's a 24/7-365 operation, no harm meant. Brockbilt hit the "rough" numbers right on, and Andy is a little insane going above and beyond!

So, I want to award two people Axpo & Brockbilt. I'll need some snailers from you guys.

Andy, I don't have that many sticks yet, so I'll keep you in mind for future earnings.

Thanks for playing,

Ah, that was the unknown factor. I was figuring it was 24/7 but only gave an 8 hour day for 365 and an 8 hour day with weekends taken out. Oh well, I don't like math 🙂

This is actually kind of a trick question. I would assume that the "products" are all produced at a percentage consistent with most of the refinement of crude, but what is the rating/strength/percentage/etc. of the products? It would take varying amounts of crude to make different types of diesel, for example.

Just thought I'd be a smartass...LOL
