Anyone Know what type router to get for our Computer?

we have a LINKSYS Cable Modum and HAD a Netgear cable/dsl web safe router gateway RP614.. which shot craps... at one time we had 3 computers networked and now down to one.. I've heard Netgear has had problems with some of their router systems and it so happens from Techs the Mrs. and I have talked to our's was one of these...

Looking for a cheap, reliable router system and not to hip on wireless..

TIA

USAhog,

I've got an extra Belkin 4-port DSL/Cable router sitting on my shelf if you want it.

(If you wrap it in aluminum foil it can even block the National Security Agency wiretaps!)

Hey Hog,

I'm not real smart about computer routers and such, but if you're only running one computer why use one at all?

Tom

PS. Glad your kids have turned to the Russ & Tina side of the force:~)

I use D-link, and it was cheap and has given me no problems for several years

EI you got a craPsman Bro! LOL

I owned one a few years back.. it didn't last 3 months (plastic parts) bearing housing where the collet is melted froze the bearing up and shaft and burnt up.. I took it back into sears and argued with the AZZ Clowns for hours showing them it was Mechanical failure NOT Electrical... they didn't care nor honor the Guarentee's so I left it on their counter and haven't been in their stores since... $394.00 POS!

Boshe or Porter Cable when it comes to woodworking routers are the best in the business!

I dont use mine as much as you do.. I paid 80 bucks for it about 20 years ago and have used it about ten times

But you are right it is crap but it suits my needs just fine for the times I pull it out for this project or another

Havent tried to hook it up to my Dell though and it is corded not wireless

EI,

if it is 20+ yrs old it may not be a bad one at all.. I still have my Grandpa's router 3/4 hp about that same age and I use it for hand held projects and it works great still... made with quality long before Crapsman products went to ****..
