WHats the best oatmeal stout you ever had and where can I get some...

Had lunch with a friend today and Heartland Brewerie in the city today. Ended up having half a burger and about 4 pints of their oatmeal stout. Now I wanna try some more.

a dude in my beer club had a great recipe for Oatmeal Stout.

We weren't reall sure how to do it the first time he tried his recipe and ended up with a lot of particulates.........we dubbed the beer "Floaty Oaty".

I gotta agree on Samuel Smiths.

Pricey but worth it.

Other than that, brew one.

I like Schafly's a microbrew in St Louis. Damn good beer but oh so thick I usually only have 1.

Just reading these brands just makes my mouth water.

I found the Sam Smiths online...they are REALLY pricey..12 for 60 dollars...

Anyone know where I can pick up some for a better price?? Online or B&M..I'm in NYC just so you guys know.

Just had some Heineken special dark tonight...Pretty good for a dark lager

like homebrew said though, brew a batch. if done right, from the right recipe, you won't find much better.

stogeeboy, there's a book called, "the joy of homebrewing". its considered by many to be the "homebrewers bible". it covers every aspect of brewing, from beer to meads, and gives some recipes. if you are at all interested in brewing, i suggest buying a copy. it really is a cool, and rewarding hobby.

If you can find it try Anderson Valley Brewing, "Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout". I like just about everything these guys make. The IPA is outstanding, even better than my own...LOL

Anderson Valley Beer Finder:

For homebrew kits try austinhomebrew.com free shipping for orders over $60. You can call them for advice on brewing as well, freindly folks for sure. The "AHS Dry Stout" kit kicks butt if you add an extra pound of extract and a pound or so of flacked oats to it. Oh it's good all by itself but this is how I brew it. Mmmmmmmmm!

I really need to brew up a few batch's for the summer herfs this year.
