I haven't posted in awhile and I know you all miss hearing from me.
I was getting gas this morning and never noticed but they had cigars. Not the ones on a stand but cigars in a plexi-glass humidor. They were ranging from 300 to 700. They had little gauges where you could see they were at 70. I am still new so I do not know all the brands but has anyone else ever saw this or tried any?

LaFinica perhaps? Yellow band with red/black lettering?

I've seen similar racks at the neighborhood Mobil station.

After breakfast a couple of mornings back, I was coming out of McDonald's and noticed a Cadillac with such plexiglass cigar racks in the front and back seats.

No harm in your trying them I guess. But I would not expect much. After all, their main seller is gasoline.

selection and quality are quite variable ...

As businesses tend to "diversify their revenue streams", many gas stations, liquor stores and a few grocery stores (at least in this area) have little humis of this sort ... first I saw was in a Standard station ... theirs was a pretty nice humidor (wood w/glass window) but their selection was pathetic and they were obviously neglected ... attendant told me "the guy who takes care of that" hadn't been around for a couple of months ...

Surprisingly, some of them have a moderately decent selection that looks as if it's being cared for ... some have prices that are fairly reasonable, some have prices that even by CALIF standards are off the charts ...

I've seen these too. They usually have some no-names in there, and I've noticed yellow band Dominican (fake) Cohibas too. I wouldn't buy unless you know the cigar and the price, and you're sure it's not a knock off.

The Specs liquor stores here in Houston usually have a pretty large selection of the ACID lines, and the Specs warehouse downtown allegedly has a huge walkin humidor, but I haven't been down there..As for gas stations, they usually have a couple boxes of Macanudos and Uppmanns ranging from about $10-$15/stick, and Thompsons for $5/stick...

I could spend a day in the downtown Spec's.

Our local grocery has had a display humi for some time containing over priced premiums. A while back they had a sign stating "all cigars 50 cents, no returns". I figured what the heck, and picked up a bunch of tubos: Partagas, H. Upmann, Punch and Macanudos.

They turned out to be dry from neglect and some even had mold! Being the cheap b@sturd that I am I just wiped the moldy ones with a wet rag and threw all of them in a tupperdore for a couple of months.

Amazingly they rejuvinated and turned out to be fairly decent yard sticks. And for 50 cents I even had premium tubos to give away to moochers. Of course I advised them they should return the favor with equally "premium" cigars. LOL!

By the time I got them the mold had dried. So they must have been to moist at one point and to dry after that. Just an indication of how neglected they really were.
I only bought the tubos because I figured they would be more protected. Go figure.

Just wondering. Do you rejuvinate half-smoked cigars too....or was that Rick...I forgot. I still can't get past that.

Our gas stations carry a lot of (blank) y (blank) cigars. (Never Romeo Y Julieta). Some knock offs and a lot of obscure brand names.

I tend to avoid them.
