I purposely let my CA subscription run out over a year ago and haven't picked up an issue since. But my sister bless her heart, sent me in the mail the latest CA magazine, I hope she didn't plop down for a subscription. Anyway, this was the first time I looked at their reviews in over a year, and they added a new description in their cigar review, a number of cigars were said to have flavors of mushrooms. I have never heard that one before, what next, talcom powder?

People have smoked musrooms for a long time. A bunch of ex-hippies must do the reviews.

i get a free copy of ca in the mail every month. i don't know why. i never asked for it and have never been billed, and wouldn't pay for it.

i think the reviewers are patronizing, elitist, dumb f**ks. (sometimes big words don't cover it.)

look for cream of mushroom and tuna salad soon.

Pretty general description of flavor. Mushrooms are very different in taste depending on the variety.

But I did hear the reviewer is a funguy to herf with.

To me the strangest word they evr used describing the taste of a cigar was "marzipan". Now that's surreal.

Actually, if you think about it mushrooms have an extremely earthy aroma when picked fresh. This is the same taste, or at least an accurate discription, I get with most Mexican cigars (TeAmo, Matacan etc). I am not a huge fan of these but I do enjoy them on occasion.

I don't think hippies smoked mushrooms, although some have probably tried.

I prefer a subtle hint of ****ake to the cigars with a heavy woodear flavor.

Agree with Sammydaddy, that the mushroom "flavor" or taste could denote earthy, sometimes used in description of Red Wines such as Merlots! It is all a little phoney to me, since I cannot taste any of the descriptive flavors such as orange peel, mango, hint of chocolate or jojoba! "If it smells good eat it", I always say and if a cigar packs a punch, smoke it!

Once again I bring up the review of the Hemmingway Work of Art: "hints of olive brine and pencil lead." Now that's just rediculous!!

Anise, it's called ANISE!!!

Oh, wrong thread!

I ate *those* mushrooms once back in the '80's...tasted like unsalted sunflower seeds...the voices won't stop...but they're funny as hell!

How much "nap time" will cause the the voices of the screaming tobacco leaves in the humidor to stop? They are much louder with the cello off. And they all speak spanish.
