He left his cane laying around.

This is what happened to it.

He only needs it when his gout acts up, but if he has to use it, it should say something about him.

Very cool ... it it water proof? Did you put some polyurethane on it to protect the bands?

Not yet. Couple layers of the special glue, and next I will put a couple layers of spray sealer.

Hope to finish it soon, but he needed it last weekend.

Only paid $3 for the cane, so it came in as pretty inexpensive for a project.

Will you be posting the insructions for the rest of us less than gifted in the area of arts and crafts BOTL's?

This would be a great idea for a gift for someone else that I know.

I sanded a cane I picked up at a thrift store for $3 and removed the rubber foot.

I used decoupage glue to apply the bands on, and put 2-3 layers of glue over the top.

Once this had dried, I used a spray gloss sealer.

I then put on a new rubber foot $1.97/2 at wally world.

I plan on putting several more layers of sealer on, but it was too cold out to stay outside long enough to do this and it stinks too much to do it indoors.

I plan on finishing it off with a black ribbon from a cigar at the top.

I did not put any bands on the handle so it does not cause irritation to the hand.

That's it.
