ooops. After reading all of the threads about cooleradors and other homemade humidors I decided
to convert and old end table into one. It was alot
easier than I thought. $70 worth of spanish cedar
a digital hygrometer and humi device and about an
hour of work. It turned out great and will hold about
25 boxes of cigars. Of course I needed to put some full boxes in it. So a box of Ramon Allones, Oliva Ole,Torano Signature and Camacho Corojo are on the way.

Now how do I expalin to the kids that they will not
have lunch money for the next couple of months?

refigerators/freezers have almost the perfect seal. could you line one with spanish cedar and make a giant humidor out of one as long as you let fresh air in every so often?

...and yes, unplug it first.

I know a few guys here have posted threads on converting the little dorm room type refrigerators. My converted humi may not have a perfect fit at the door but it keeps reading 69 - 71%. I know because I find that I am checking it every five minutes. Clark

Well Clark, I am headed in the same direction myself. The end table is a good idea. I have not progressed to box storage yet. Might freak out the wife. She is pretty understanding and I want to keep it that way. I am however working on an aging box. I recently picked up a nice oak tool box. Should hold 150 smokes or so. Then I will use the big glass top for display of "ready" smokes. The toolbox will be kept close at hand but out of the way. This is key as the smokes I currently like benefit greatly from aging. I am going to have divided storage on the bottom and a nice big divided tray on top. Hey! Post some pics of your work. It's always nice to see what someone else comes up with.

for the last ten years, about 95% of the time on my way to the shop I plop over $1.90 to get a tostada and bean burrito at Taco Bell for lunch, with the amount I save there the sky's the limit for my cigar enjoyment. I spend two or three times on a cigar each day than I do lunch.

xrundog, you mentioned that the smokes you currently like need some humi time. What smokes do you like?

Are you kidding,.....CIGARS! Some gars last longer than most lunch breaks. Eat a larger breakfast.

Cigar....I can stand to skip a lunch or two. Anyway, the cigars are usually already paid for in advance as opposed to lunch.
