Quit being such a dolt and look it up.

What I actually found, and it was quite interesting, was that "liberalism" as a concept seems to embrace the idea of fiscal conservatism- no big government debt, capitalism, free trade, tax equality.

Then you find liberalism as it is practiced today, and pioneered by FDR. Spend, spend, spend as long as it is other people's money. Since the liberal knows what is best for you and your money, it is only right that they should take it from you and throw it into entiltlement programs like social security, medicaid and welfare.

Total BS.

If you find some real "liberals" of the non-modern day democrat variety, maybe you could send them in the direction of Washington DC.

Socialism and communism get all tied up as "liberal" philosophies, which are not the same as liberalism.

I heard a guy from Sweden on the radio the other day. He found it amusing that we are accusing our current government of trying to fire up "European-style Socialism". He said the Europeans figured out long ago socialism doesn't work and many of them are now pushing for a more America-like system. He also kindly requested we keep BHO over here for the foreseeable future.

Margaret Thatcher had some interesting comments on socialism...


Prime Minister Thatcher said, "...and Socialist governments traditionally do make a financial mess. They [socialists] always run out of other people's money. It's quite a characteristic of them."


The present US administration is described as both liberal and socialist, depending who you may be listening to. Either way, we do have a "financial mess", as old Margaret pointed out long ago.

Well call me a liberal then, cuz I believe in all those things and would add:

-No foreign aid in the form of money or weapons
-Limited social programs
-Government regulates/creates money, NOT a private bank (Federal Reserve)
-Foreign policy of non-intervention

...just off the top of my head...

Conservatives are willing slaves, and honestly think that the government wants to take money from the middle class and give it to the undeserving poor.

An their owners love them for it.

Do you seriously argue that the liberals have been any worse then the republicans at running this country (other than into the ground)??? If so you are blind or stupid... or both. Politics has become a profession instead of a priveledge. Politicians no longer look upon election as an honor bestoed upon them by the citizens. It is just a way for them to milk the taxpayers and lobbyists and fill their bank accounts.

Reagan and Newt didnt run the country into the ground that was done by Republicans who were dumb enough to try and honorably work with Democrats instead of sticking with thier true values..

^ You're old enough to know better .... Reagan was a Democrat first, and was a "closet democrat" while POTUS. Spending increased during his administaration. In addition, how can you say on the one hand that Obana runs the country as POTUS, but Reagan didn't and that Newt didn't control the republican congress???

My bias is they all suck ... some more than others........
