if only it were that simple ...

don't get me wrong ... Barry IS woefully inexperienced and I think it shows ... but we don't exactly have a strong track record of getting it right in this part of the world, primarily because getting it right is extraordinarily complicated ... not to mention the fact that we're a long ways from being in control of what happens and to an increasing extent, less influential that we'd like to believe we are ...

They need to be careful decrying Mubarak's actions while pushing for the power to do the same here....

A semi-dictator that is a semi-friend of the USA and Israel. Tough situation.

Israel maybe should have made peace with a few more neighbors while they had the chance instead of destroying their relationship with Turkey.

that's very insightful ... results could easily turn out to be quite similar too with a goofy radical anti US Islamic given power to impose Sharia law

1/3 of our foreign aid goes to egypt.
1/3 of our foreign aid goes to Israel.
1/3 of our foreign aid goes where it probably should.

Egypt is killing it's citizens with guns it buys from us with money we give to them.

We'll let them get killed in the streets, and the "america help us" will turn into "why have you forsaken us?"

same old same old. But we sure are some really generous people...just ask us.

How long until the final over-throw? How about recission of peace with Israel?

Mubarak will be out in 7 days. The new government will not cancel the peace treaty with Israel but will be far less favorable. The Gaza embargo could end almost immediately. The new government will be less friendly to the USA.

Israel and their continued settlement construction and operation of concentration camps will come home to roost. They failed to make peace when they held all the cards and it will haunt them.

The USA cries for democracy have resulted in Hamas taking over in Gaza. Hezbollah taking over in Lebanon, and soon a Muslim conservative group taking over in Egypt. The Palestinian Authority in the West Bank is next to fall. We may start appealing for dictatorships instead of this democracy crap.

Egypt has Abrams tanks, F-16 fighters, and Apache helicopters.

US foreign aid to Israel should have been eliminated a few years ago. Israel is a rogue, apartheid nation.

Egypt's foreign aid probably should be eliminated in the next few months but we have to try to buy off the new government first.

agree completely Stinkdyr. The only thing I can add to that, is that the weapons that those countries buy with our money (weapons made by us to be bought by them of course with the money we give them), are used to kill civilians. Then they get mad at us. Then they want to kill us. It's kinda like we bring a lot of this crap onto ourselves.

Well, that and we have a black, kenyan, muslim, cigarette smoking, skinny guy with a funny name as President who also has ties to Germany and all of those "stan" countries I'm sure.
