What's this lady's's claim to fame?

Popped up suddenly & is everywhere. Jack? Anybody?

I get her mixed up with the broad in Carey's Yes Man.

Bloody , Katy is actually talented, Gorgeous , easy going and hillarious. She is probably 60 % comedian and quite striking. Music wise she has the pipes but it's not really my kinda music. I think she's gonna be a BIG star and individually is the kinda chick who you could pal around with just like one of the guys, but she is built to kill..

Yeah, she's pretty, but is she a pop singer or an actress or both? She looks vaguely familiar. Like I said, I keep mixing her up with Jim Carey's love interest in Yes Man. That actress is a comedianne/singer too.

Synthed voice (like most popsters lately) to cover the lack of talent. Will be popular because of catchy jingoism and cotton candy melodies.... nothing wrong with that.

Obviousloy her marketing campaign has woo'd jack. She reminds me of the Monster/Dr. Dre Beats headphones etc. $50 cans being sold for $300-$400. But as long as folks will be stupid enough to buy in I aint mad at her. Her cans are much nicer than Dr. Dres.

Put a $300 pair of Dre Beats against a $100 pair of sennheisers and its a shame what folks are pouring money in to.

I know that this is what passes for music in some circles but, to my ears, what she's selling doesn't have much to do with music.

But, whatever you like. There's something out there for whatever your taste is. It just makes me kind of sad when someone like Katy Perry gets so crazy rich off this (to me) glitzy pop pseudo-entertainment and true musical genius' like Tommy Emmanuel get largely ignored. It's a strange world.

I'm really interested in Katy's "extreme patriotism in the form of aggressive foreign policy", TW. Is it possible that jisgoism can be catchy?

I learn so much here.....
