Spent 15 hours on the river today as escort for the USS Ingraham (FFG-61) - On the left and the USS Lake Champlain (CG-57) - On the right. Also present on the transit up the Columbia and Willamette Rivers to Portland, but not pictured, were the USS McClusky (FFG-41) and the Canadian ships HMCS Saskatoon (MM 709) and the HMCS Whitehorse (MM 705).DSCN0348223.jpg

There's nothing quite like enjoying a good cigar at sunset while transitting the Bosphorus Strait on a warship!

WOW the Ingraham there in the foreground brings back lots of memories.I served 3 years aboard the USS Crommelin(FFG-37).These were my least favorite class of ship to have served on but the crew aboard the Crommelin was top notch.

The only thing better than Fleet Week in Portland is the Astoria Regatta.............made it twice.Unbelievable hospitality and some incredible memories were made in the great northwest.

Thanks for the pic Brother.......and the ride down memory lane.

Wow, that pic brings back some memories! I spent 10 years in the Navy, 5 of them on a Fast Frigate … I made the Rose Festival AND the Astoria trip. Those were some good times. There’s nothing like being out to sea.

exddco – I hear ya. My wife recently retired as a full CDR after enlisting at 17. I thought she would miss it and be in a funk for years … but there’s very little she looks back on that she really misses – old friends mostly.
