Here at Albuquerque City Hall, where almost everyone speaks at least some Spanish - people have been saying "Where's Tonto?" and I say "He got tired of me calling him Tonto" (and I say it the Spanish way - "Tohn-tow") - then they burst out laughing - most had never thought about it. Tonto is slang for stupid or foolish.
