Mitt Romney is having the ride of his life...something his old Irish Setter, Seamus, knew something about.

Have you read about this story? Search "Romney dog on roof" and more than 30-million results come back.

You see back in 1983, Romney, then 36, drove his station wagon from Boston to Ontario to visit his parents. The car was packed with Mrs. Romney and their five sons for the 12 hour ride. So where'd they put the family dog?

In a carrier...Attached to the roof with a special windshield.

Ok, sounds weird, but maybe the dog liked it!

Oh wait no...He soiled himself.

You might lose control too, if you were strapped to the top of a car going 60.

The Boston Globe reporter who first broke the story says it illustrates a quality Romney has grown famous for -- emotion-free crisis management.

After seeing a trail of number two spew down the rear window, he pulled into a service station, hosed-down the car and the pooch then put old fido back-up in his torture chamber and carried on.

Judge as you will, but Romney says "get over it."

You might prefer the roof to being in the car with the Romneyโ€™s too!

Never thought of that, clever. Then again I don't have a puppy.

The kids were pretty young then too. Probably traumatized them to see their dog put in that situation. It does show a real lack of judgement and a cold heartless feeling to living beings that are part of our family. I honestly don't know what kind of person would sit back and let that happen. No matter how old I was I would have done whatever I could to stop someone from doing that to my pets over my lifetime. It would be like putting my sister on the roof. Wait, maybe that would be a good thing.

Yeah, youthful indiscretion is all. Same thing happened to Henry Hyde when he made the youthful mistake of having an affair in his 50's. Can't hold the kid stuff against them.
