Do you unwrap your cigars before they go into your humidor, of leave them wrapped? I've always unwrapped them. Apparently, some of you leave the wrapper on. Is one way better? Answer quickly please, I can't sleep!

Cello on or cello off ... endless stream of thought and discussion has gone on here, far more than such a simple subject might normally warrant ...

I'm a cello off kinda guy, but don't always take it off, so maybe that makes me a part time cello on guy or maybe I'm neither ... now you've got me confused.

Bottom line is that you're gonna either get a lot of referrals to past posts or a wide variety of answers. Mine is ... cello off, I think that's a more positive method and I'm not one who thinks flavors will marry unless they're flavored cigars ... I think the best means of dealing with flavored cigars is give 'em away, but not to someone that will smoke it anywhere near you ...

But I'll share a little something with you at the same time ... in the long run, it doesn't matter too much, although the cello left on DOES tend to give a little extra protection to the condition of those wrappers ...

If you are like me and am always rearranging my humi, grabbing a 'gar and throwing it my pocket, I find the cello adds some protection.

I've always unwrapped because I feel the humidor will perform better without the plastic in the way. I know that I do.

I always take the cello off but then I put little pajama's on them, it keeps them warm and snug. LMAO JonR

I leave the cello on cause my humidor is a converted bingo ball machine. Mini Mean gets back there and plugs it in sometimes and well B4 I know it someones yelling............

The aroma of an unlit cigar when it comes out of the celo is a lot stronger than after they've been unwrapped for a while. The other day I was admiring some Perdomo Reserves that have a marvelous, rich aroma when removed from the celo which diminishes after five minutes. I wonder if keeping them in the celo doesn't preserve some of the volitile oils or whatever that makes them so good. I dunno, just a thought.

Iffin a gar comes W/cello on,I leave it on,as I believe it adds some protection to the wrapper. I removed the cello from my gars early in my gar smoking career,and I found that over time,some of the wrappers became damaged. X

Personally, I don't think it matters a whit--I've done both over the years. These days I take the cello off, at least in part because I like the way the unwrapped cigars look in the humidor.

Easy answer. SMOKE THE DANG THINGS!. Cigars were made for smokin not storin.

If you want to store them just convert the junk drawer to a humidor and toss in with those keys that you may someday figure out what they unlock. They will be there for years!

After reading about 13,469 posts on this subject I have decided that everyone is right, so I take the cello off my cigars and, using a properly sharpened scissors, cut the cello in half. Then I replace the cello, only now my cigars are half nude and half celloed. Since, statistically speaking, I am as likely to damage the top half of the cigar as the bottom half, I have reduced any potential damage by 50% while allowing half of the cigars' little bare bottoms to benefit from upclose and personal contact with their neighbors' little bare bottoms (by now X has run panting to the bathroom).

Problem is, I damage about 75% of the cigars in this somewhat laborious process. Will report back when I have it fully mastered. I really think I am on to something here and invite one and all to join my experiement for the benefit of all, or Mr. Kite.

As I feel that my cigars are sacrifices to the god of relaxation, ( his name is "Ernesto"), I believe it's important that they be like all other virgins givin over to the gods and in a pure and untainted state. IE;
BUTT NAKED!

And as long as there is fresh meat around here (from the dead horse, j/k), as in newbies, these subjects will keep recurring...that's the way it always was and that's the way it will always be...we can either be uppity about it, OR, answer an honest question...

IMO...they look so cute with in their little wrappings, kinda like newborns just waiting to be cuddled! But, it has become apparent that MOST here seem to be of the mind that naked IS better...thus, my babies are nakie...it's a personal preference...I think?
