Thought I'd try something new and bid on a box of these. Anyone have any thoughts on them? Good, bad, somewhere in between?

I have a few aging, just the right size, nice smoke. One of the better values I have found on this website.

yes, for the price you will win a box at it is an outstanding value. But most likely they will need serious age time, three months at least. But try one when you get the box, maybe it sat around at their warehouse for a long time before sending it out. It could very well taste like a strong cigarette, but don't give up, you won't believe the change in taste in three months. I am smoking 3 year old 5 Vegas now and they are excellent.

Just got a box of 25 for $25... such a deal! They look nice. Haven't had the chance to light one up yet but will do so in the next few days and let you know. Have had good experience with torpedo shape and great experience with the corona shape.

i like the 5 vegas also. they need some time in the humidor. but like i tell my wife (she's younger than i) good things improve with age

So here is another question. I have a very small desktop humidor. While I look around for a new high capacity humidor is there any problem with keeping cigars in the fruit crisper in the fridge? I noticed that it keeps my apples, etc in great shape for a long time. Any thoughts?

Putting your smokes in the fridge is one of the worst places to put them. It will draw all of the moisture out of your cigars, leaving them dry and brittle. If you don't have a humidor yet, make one out of Tupperware to tide you over until you do get one.

FERG, put down your cigars, right there, easy boy. Now back away from the fridge. No sudden moves. Easy now.
Seriously, the fridge is the WORST place for your cigars. It will suck your cigars dry and give them a funky taste & smell of whatever you've got crawling around in there. The best thing to do is use a Tupperware-type container or just put 'em in a zip-lock baggie.

Whew. Thanks for talking me down there. The humidor that i have is just a 20 pax desktop model so when i get a box in i usually end up smoking a few right away with my friends to make sure that there aren't any drying up outside of the humidor. I want to get a larger one soon but for now I guess I'll have to make one or just keep the inventory moving.

You can use a Tupperware container for long term - just get some of those thin cedar dividers that come in some boxes of cigars (ask your local shop if you can have a few), and also make yourself a humidification device. Put the cedar on the bottom of the container and maybe in between layers of cigars. ASK RICK or SLIM for details on the humidification device. Make sure you open it periodically because those air-tight containers can over-humidify. OR, if you anticipate going nuts here at cigarbid like so many have, you can make a huge humidor out of a cooler. I am proud to say I have avoided a coolerdor for quite a few years now. Self-control, self-control. (Well, I failed to mention I've acquired two humidors since showing up here, so now I have three, but NO coolerdor!)
