VIENNA (AP) — The U.N. atomic agency has found evidence at an underground bunker in Iran that could mean the country has moved closer to producing the uranium threshold needed to arm nuclear missiles, diplomats said Friday.

The International Atomic Energy Agency has found traces of uranium enriched up to 27 percent at Iran's Fordo enrichment plant, the diplomats told The Associated Press.

That is still substantially below the 90-percent level needed to make the fissile core of nuclear arms. But it is above Iran's highest-known enrichment grade, which is close to 20 percent, and which already can be turned into weapons-grade material much more quickly than the Islamic Republic's main stockpile, which can only be used for fuel at around 3.5 percent....

OK. The U.S. will likely increase sanctions or at least widen them and will ask more countries to promptly join the embargo. But, will that stop Iran from additional and further enrichment? Will U.S and world pressure be enough to stop Israel- if Israel's threat against Iran is real? IMO, it will not have any effect on what Iran is doing or will do. I don't feel confident that Israel will bend to any pressure if it truly means to attack as it has stated...

(CNN) -- Iranian sailors helped scare off armed pirates who attacked an American cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman, Iranian state media reported Thursday.

It's the latest example of U.S.-Iranian cooperation on pirate-infested high seas despite a wave of tensions between Washington and Tehran over the decades.

The incident occurred northeast of Fujairah, a port for refueling oil tankers, the Fars News Agency said. The port, in the United Arab Emirates, is close to the Strait of Hormuz, an important oil shipping lane.

Iranian navy vessels received a distress signal from the U.S. cargo ship Maersk Texas during patrols.

The forces announced their willingness to help. As they closed in on the American cargo ship, the pirates scattered. The U.S. ship crew thanked the Iranian naval force and continued on its way, state media reported.

"We were aware of the incident yesterday," a State Department official said. "The situation was successfully deescalated by the ship's crew and the Iranian crew."

Let Israel do it's own heavy lifting this time.

We can end sending money there too. Really. They'll do JUST fine without it!

The U.S. just needs to avoid the world-wide instability that comes with even a whiff of possible war in that region- and the fall-out from it's relationship with Israel.

During Desert Storm, when Saddam launched missiles at Israel and it was asked not to retaliate in kind by the U.S., it didn't. I just don't think that will work this time if Israel is serious. All-out war is scary as hell, but I really think it could happen. It is just a matter of how wide-scale it will be.

Israel does have the means to nuke Iran into melted glass. Imagine how that would change the world.

What you would have to figure out is would you be under the Obama War Cone of Protection if the USA decides to start another war to replace Iraq and Afghanistan.

Israel wants war but wants the USA to be the one to fight it.

Will Israel go-it alone......my bet is no. They already know they don't have the conventional means and it would guarantee a new middle east arms race pointed squarely at them coupled with a significant weakening of clout with the USA and Europe.


Maybe my next gig will be reconstruction in Iran after the USA destabilizes it further through warfare!

If they want to quench their bloodlust...Let THEM do it. They don't need us if they're so bad. What are we now...their big brother? They can mouth off to the neighborhood bullies because we're sitting on the stoop waiting for someone to swing at them? Cut them loose.
