The roaming ticking box showed at my locker. It appeared an unassuming mfr but when the post office recently replaced our damaged community boxes they apparently were made of bomb proof material.
I was hungover but when I opened it I turned stone cold sober.

You guys freeze all your cigars? Excuse the ignorance but I’ve never heard of doing this. Is that to kill beetles? I have a pretty decent sized collection. A fair bit of money invested. I’m sure your collections would be rather humbling. Just curious if I should seriously freeze mine or if it’s likely overkill. Does it effect taste at all. I realize cigars are tougher than some would lead you to think.

Yes freezing for a few days will kill beetles and eggs. Temperature is crucial in storing try no stay around 72 tops. Humidity is by preference but too much and you will mold up. Hope that helps Jake from State Farm.

I felt like freezing them would decrease flavor. I’ve never heard of doing that. I’m not a new smoker but my stash has gotten large enough for me to make certain nothing happens to it

Whistle's process involved freezing for a time and then acclimating to preferred humidity storage for a time. I forget the timeframe so left it general. Smoking immediately after freezing would probably cause some burn/taste issues but recovers after the second part

Manufacturers also go through a beetle prevention process, but the possibility, though rare, does exist still

Anything that you're going to put into your hume should be frozen for 72 hours in a sealed bag or container.After the frozen nap I go straight to the humidor,some go to the refrigerator for a day or so I just have never seen the need.Even though manufacturers do this,there are lots of stops between the rolling room and your humi where bugs could be picked up.I've had two outbreaks in the last 15 years,my collection has grown since then and it's value makes this frozen step a necessarily evil.

To answer your question............No it does not change the flavor at all.After the frozen step just give them a few weeks of rest before firing them up.Mine usually sit at least a year maybe 3 but I know what I like and I buy long before my supply is exhausted.
