An Indiana father watching television with his children was accidentally shot to death by his 3-year-old son after the boy found a loaded handgun nearby, police said on Saturday.

Michael Payless, 33, was found dead in the southern Indiana town of Salem on Friday night.

Payless was watching television with two of his children when the other child, a 3-year-old boy, found the gun.

"The child accidentally discharged the loaded handgun ... Michael A. Payless was pronounced dead at the scene," an Indiana state police statement said.

Payless, with his wife, three children, and another juvenile, had been at the house doing some remodeling work, the statement said.

"He won't be making me eat broccoli anymore", the three year old was heard saying while watching his mother scoop up chunks of her husbands brain.

Another wizard out of the gene pool. They probably bought the gun with their food stamps.

And that is why
1. Teach your kids early proper gun safety
2. You keep the loaded gun out of reach of children
3. Teach your kids that guns are not toys
4. Don't keep your gun with a round in the chamber
5. Have kids that like broccoli

Both of my kids were taught the 10 commandments of gun safety when they were very young. And, it is still drilled to them whenever they want to join me at the range.
The 800lb safe behind me helps too.

1 Treat every firearm with the same respect due a loaded firearm.
2 Control the direction of your firearm's muzzle.
3 Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
4 Be sure the barrel and action are clear of obstructions.
5 Unload firearms when not in use.
6 Never point a firearm at anything you do not intend to shoot.
7 Never climb a fence or tree, or jump a ditch or log, with a loaded firearm.
8 Never shoot a bullet at a flat, hard surface or water.
9 Store firearms and ammunition separately.
10 Avoid alcoholic beverages or other mood-altering drugs before or while shooting.

So much better to be a helpless unarmed victim of a crazed killer, career criminal or crack head.

Defending oneself with a gun, bad! Being raped, robbed or murdered without offering resistance, good. Or at least that’s what the anti gun nuts tell me.

BTW, what in the world does the OP have to do with Stand Your Ground laws?
