once it started, it became the story of his family, he makes ties to the commonality of his family's story with the families of this particular slice of American society, and it appears he is headed toward his version of the reasons for their failure to advance.

It does not appear he will blame the usual targets, so I am hanging in. It's an easy read, but I read at the speed of speaking, so I just do it in spurts when bored.
